Upon a closer rewatch Windows appeared to be covered in a thick layer of slime that was most likely slowly assimilating him. He was making a lot of inhuman croaking noises that sounded like he was becoming a Thing.

Windows was a dead man. No point in letting him sit there and complete the digestion/transformation process. It's probably painful until it finishes the brain, so likely Mac was actually doing Windows a kindness, even if unintentionally.
