Why does Sylvester Stallone have a reputation for being rude?

Because he Is rude. I worked at MGM when Stallone was rehearsing for Rocky III.

I was returning from lunch with one of our makeup artists and we were strolling down the MGM street, walking by a stage with a wide-open giant stage door. A boxing ring had been set up, and we could see Stallone working out with his boxing stunt double. We stopped for a second to watch and Stallone gave us his stink eye, and then one of his body guards came over and asked us to move on.

Remember - the stage door was wide open to the street and everybody - and we were in the middle of the street - now being asked to leave.. As far as I am concerned he was an idiot. If he didn’t want anyone to watch he should have have the stage door closed.

BTW, have you ever noticed that no major film directors have ever worked with Stallone? Except for John Huston on Victory, and when word got out that he was constantly telling this academy award winning director (4 Oscars, 13 nominations) on How To Direct ….. that’s when really good creatives would have nothing to do with him.

At that time cocaine, steroids, money, power, massive ego.

Arnie used to toy with Stallones ego. If Arnie said he was interested in scripts Stallone would then try to snatch it up from under his nose.

Arnie's words:

“I read the script, and it was a piece of s—. Let’s be honest. I say to myself, I’m not going to do this movie,” Schwarzenegger explained.

Knowing Stallone would be on it like a mouse on a crumb, Arnie got word out that he was very interested in this movie.

Months later Stallone was signed on to film.......and it was a piece of sh!t.

Arnie got the last laugh there.

Stallone saw Arnie doing comedies so thought he would jump on the train.

Stallone is terrible in comedies, mainly due to his ego and not having the same level of introspection Arnie does.

In his later years he did gain introspection which helped his dramatic performances gain a little humour like in the last few Rocky/Creed films. But straight up comedy, hell no, he just doesn't have the chops for it.

When he tries to be funny it's just awful. His funiest perfomance was probably Rocky 1 & 2 when he isn't trying to be funny per se, but ad libbing his way through scenes playing the Rocky we all know and love. The blabbermouth with a big heart.
