Was anyone else scared when the kids fell in the meatgrinder?

I realize at the time the scene with the meatgrinder was symbolic of something bigger, but I made the mistake when I was 7 to watch Siskel&Ebert review of the Wall and was permanently frightened by the scene where the kids fell in the meatgrinder. To this day I still have problems with this scene alone even though I have seen this movie many times, and love this movie to death. Anyone else bothered by this?

I think the message behind this scene has more revelence now then back when it was released. An assembly line education.

On the director commentary they were saying how the kids falling into the "grinder" kind of leaned back as they went in, but one girl just fell in face-first with no fear like a champ. I always notice that girl now. No fear!

I saw this when I was like 6 or 7 and laughed my ass of during the meat grinder scene. I didn't really understand and appreciate Pink Floyd until around 11 or 12. Now it is my favorite band. Off topic, but does anybody think that Roger will every do an "Animals" tour? It's my favorite album, and I wish I could get to see it live. But yeah, I loved the meat grinder scene... maybe I'm screwed up or something

I saw it when I was 12, and it still freaked me out. It wasn't the meat-grinder however. It was those masks. I had nightmares about it, and stayed away from the song for awhile. Thankfully, I got over it. Watching it again, I really admire the cinematography and direction.

I had the same problem. I was totally okay with the meat grinder scene, but those mask/putty faced kids.... *shutters*. I first saw the movie when I was 7 (walked in on my cousin watching it). I actually never totally got over how they looked. I love the album and the movie, but I still suffer from panic attacks when I see them. I have to leave the room/at times I will shut it off because I just get really panicky. One time we watched it in class when I was 12 and I actually fainted. I still get nightmares about those kids...

Once in a while, they still make it into my dreams.

H*ll yeah! I was scared really, really badly that time. I watched the clip from a little b&w television and was astonished, scared and disgusted because of the scene. I think it scarred me for months! It was really something I was not expecting to see! When I hear the song I always remember the scene! Nowadays I think the song is really powerful and the metaphor is right on the money about the society!

yeah saw it when i was too young to understand the metaphor and it creeped me out
