Did Rambo get any test or treatment for PTSD before being discharged?
I probably missed it in the film but was it ever addressed?

share"Shell shock" is a term that dates back to at least the Civil War, but it wasn't talked about anywhere near as much as it is these days. Today those that suffer PTSD can get treatment, although it's also become a catch-all crutch for those who simply act badly.
Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.share
To True
shareI don't recall any mention of tests or treatment. A lot of Vietnam vets were left to figure their problems out on their own. In the movie the one deputy mentions something to the effect that Rambo was not right but the deputy in charge of the jail house was not going to be bothered in terms of if Rambo needed professional help. Put that deputy in the camp of "he could behave himself if he really wanted to" alluding to what I mentioned previously.
shareThis really is a damn good question?? You would've thought some form of psychiatric evaluation upon discharge would've been in order, but I suppose they didn't think someone would ask a good question like this?? In the real world?? This individual would've been evaluated upon being discharged.. Then you imagine where the movie would be if the Sheriff would've just pointed him the direction to get something to eat and cleanup instead of arresting him for resisting arrest as he stated??
shareBack then the bar was a lot higher for a ptsd diagnoses and it was considered an embarrassment. Nowadays you can get it diagnosed from crossing the street.
sharePTSD hadn't been invented then --- Shell Shock or Combat Fatigue
And probably not they hadn't invented the drugs at that time
