shareThere are certain things you just don't do to your best friend. What Damone did was one of them. Had Mark lost interest or found someone else he was interested in, then that's a different story. But while Mark may be shy and a geek, Damone knew Mark still had high interest in Stacy. Of course, he also knew that if he banged her and Mark found out, Mark would be upset. He did it anyway, which makes Damone a douche for doing so. The fact that he stood Stacy up when she depended on him for a ride to the abortion clinic just proves it further.

Granted, Damone's actions are explainable, and it wasn't as if she was really Mark's girlfriend anyway. Damone was normal red-blooded young man, he saw a chance with Stacy and took it. It was a case of the little head doing the thinking for the big head. It wasn't until afterward that he realized what he had done, and that's when he felt guilty and tried to avoid Stacy from then on.
It might have been better if Damone had told Ratner before the SHTF. That may have softened the blow a bit. He could have explained it diplomatically and truthfully, and Ratner might have still been angry, but more forgiving.
The worst thing he did was leave Stacy high and dry when he promised to give her a ride to the abortion clinic. Even if he couldn't come up with the money, he could have fessed up and promised to pay her back. At least, he should be a man about it and face the music.
As it turned out, Brad gave her a ride and took her home. He asked "who did it," but Stacy wouldn't tell him. Lucky for Damone, since Brad probably would have pounded him.

Her best friend was constantly feeding her with embellished stories about sexual encounters, and egging her on to have sex, especially with older guys. Stacys initial views on sex and relationships were severely warped, to the point of thinking that Mark "didn't like" her because he didn't have sex with her. After her failed "relationships" with Ron and Damone, she realises that sex doesn't define a couple, which unfortunately is the mindset of a lot of young people.
Damone on the other hand, obviously felt guilty both before and after having sex with Stacy. I really applaud Romanus' acting during those scenes as one can tell the remorse and disgust that engulfs him after the act. He most likely slept with her despite this, because he's a horny teenager, and had a low self esteem (both of which are completely normal traits for young people).
Definitely agree with all of this. While I called Stacy an idiot, her warped sense of views toward sex and relationships was fed to her by her "more sophisticated" friend, and her mindset is common for many young people, sadly. If sleeping with two guys in a year and making moves on a third makes Stacy a whore, there are a lot of whores out there. Funny how no one is calling Damone a whore.
As for Damone, yes, his guilt-ridden face was really telling. For me, it was one of his redeeming qualities. He knew he messed up, and he had to really come to terms with his confidence and prowess being facades. Thankfully, he apologized to Ratner in the end.
Just cause a girl throws herself at you doesn't mean you have to say yes. Damone gained the trust of his "friend" Mark and blew it over like a jerk by sleeping with Stacy. It's the same thing as a guy dating his friend's ex, really.

One more thing about Damone - He certainly wasn't the Casanova that he pretended to be. Stacy was the only one who showed any real interest in him during the movie. Damone liked to pretend he was this woman-magnet, with his 5 point plan, etc. The fact that he had a chance with Stacy was quite likely his first sexual encounter with any girl, further evidenced by his premature ejaculation.
