Portraying sexual assault as pleasure

I know movies like this in the 1970s and 1980s could do anything imaginable to women, but many found that this scene (the Tree Rape Scene) was particularly difficult and disturbing because Cheryl sounded like she was enjoying/having an orgasm while being raped by the branches and vines. Not sure who would answer this but was this director's intent or the actress'?

Put me in the "looks like she's in pain" column vs taking pleasure.

Anyone here see Gutterballs (2008)? Talk about a "pleasurable" rape scene..makes Evil Dead's look like an episode of Sesame Street.

How about the hot curling iron scene on Fox's The Exorcist, i.e, broadcast TV in prime time?

"what is your major malfunction numbnuts?!!"

I would think that having branches and vines in such a sensitive area would be painful. I don't see how it could do anything hurt. Then again, there are people who like that sort of thing but she seemed kind of strait laced for that kind of kink.

She definitely wasn't enjoying it, and I don't see how exactly it would be seen as more disturbing if she did.

That sort of cheap, misogynist titillation was common in horror movies of the 70s and 80s and it was absolutely the director's intent.

Straw Dogs was worse in that regard.
