Ellen vs. Lauren

Who did you prefer? Who do you think made a better match for Alex?

reply

Susie Farkiss.

Ellen. This is kind of a silly reason, but I found Lauren's suspenders tacky.

Ellen

Ellen, hands down. She and Alex had better chemistry and she was a more interesting character. Lauren and Alex had no chemistry, and Courteney Cox could not act back then.

Ellen

Ellen by a country mile. The two parter where Alex drives to the train station to profess his love to her....love it. one of my favorites.

reply

I preferred Lauren.

reply

Ellen, and it's not close. (It's about as close as asking 'which is better, The Matrix or either of its sequels?')

Michael and Tracy had great chemistry on set and, obviously, off as well. The two parter where they met and fell in love would be in my top ten TV moments of all time if I ever made a list. Fantastic stuff. You can see why At This Moment became a hit after it was used at the end of part one.

Whistling Wolf should get more camera time . . . he’s like a young Pacino!

reply

Ellen, but this is not really a fair comparison IMO. Ellen and Alex had a real life chemistry that was shown because of the real life chemistry between the actors. Lauren and Alex were acting where Ellen and Alex were phoning in the acting because the emotions were true.

reply

Ellen, for sure. Lauren felt like they were trying to make a character as similar as possible to Ellen without making her Ellen, and it just didn't work. Ellen and Alex were a much better couple.

reply

Jocelyn Clark, Alex's other prom date (red boutonniere).

She might have not enjoyed mints juleping, but she would have been a great match for Alex.
