According to Woody Harrelson, he was offered to continue doing Cheers as the star with Woody Boyd buying the bar from Sam.

He wisely said 'no', but would you have kept watching Cheers without Sam?

Sam leaving would make it less watchable for sure. And he is the reason the show ended in the first place.

Don't think so. Sam was the central character, Woody a side player.
