Negative. When the top-billed cast member has been with the series since day one, it's not worth watching after his demise. The same can be said for Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men" and Charlotte Rae (Mrs. Garrett) on "The Facts of Life." As much as I loved Woody, I couldn't imagine Sam leaving.

No way, alan.
The real cjh is enough of a nuisance without you doppleganger-trolls trying to stir the pot. Most people dislike the guy. You're not adding to his disdain by trying to imitate him.

Yo! I'm not enough of a nuisance, and MOST people like me, or at least tolerate me. Lol. The percentage of people disliking me is very low. Probably 10 or 15 percent.
X-Men: Apocalypse 8/10. TMNT: Out of the Shadows 9/10. RIP Doris Roberts. You were wonderful in ELR.
Oh, that's not true all. I think Season 11 is in the Top 5 best Seasons maybe. It was nearly as excellent later on as early on. Very little drop, if any, in quality.

I didnt know about that, but i was 10 when Cheers ended, ive only known it from my father who loved it, but i couldnt speak English either, so i didnt get it.
Anyway, now that ive rediscovered it some years ago, it is obviously clear that Sam is the Man, having Woody take it over would just be a shadow of its former self kinda thing, because Woody was never the "master" in anything, he had no loser following, he is just not the premise that made Cheers.
But, i would still watch it, but im pretty sure id be one of the "its just not the same without Sam" people. How could it be the same, how could it be even better? Sam/ Ted Danson just IS Cheers, there is just no way that it would have been wise to carry on without him.
Hell no! Next to Rebecca, Woody was the weakest character. Don't get me wrong, I actually like most of Harrelson's work in film and TV post-Cheers, but he was kind of overrated on Cheers.
I would have continued to watch, but don't think it would have been as enjoyable. Sam was the focal point of the show and most things revolved around things he was doing.
Woody was very shaky in his early seasons, nowhere near funny as Coach. I'll admit that he hit his stride in the later seasons, but the other characters like Sam, Cliff, Carla, Norm, Frasier were just so much better realized from the start and Woody had the misfortune of being a Coach ripoff. They even had to start resorting to more physical comedy to help prop Woody up to make him funnier in the later seasons.
Woody was pretty hilarious. I mean, I prefer Coach, but Woody was pretty great too.
I agree, Woody is hysterical. Aside from Coach’s 2nd season, I feel Woody is funnier. When I was watching yesterday, Frasier was showing slides from his trip with Diana to Europe (BTW, they are broken up now and he is resentful). He shows a slide and says “here is Florence”, and Woody Says “wow, she looks just like Ms. Chambers”.
Another time Woody asks Diana, “you’re not going to tell my mom are you?’ and Diana says “mums the word” so Woody says “okay, you’re not going to tell my mum are you”? clever writing and Haralson sure can deliver a line.

Woodyism: Aw, well, Mr. [Bill] Medley, how come you changed your name from Righteous?
Sam: I know why you don’t want to play me in racket ball, it’s because I’m a professional athlete. Woody: No Sam, it’s because you’re ol…… yea, it’s because you’re a professional athlete. reply share
No, I would not have. You could do the show without Diane and without Carla, Coach, Woody, Frasier, Norm, etc. - but I think Sam is the one piece that has to stay. It was his bar. He had a role within the bar that simply could not be taken over by another character - his presence was unique among the cast/characters. In certain ways, Sam was more grounded than the others, and I think that if that was removed from the show... the show would suffer tremendously.
And I just can't wrap my head around watching the show (or any show for that matter) with Woody as the lead character. Of course he was funny and had some great moments, but to have him at the center? I just can't see it working. Woody is character who's great in small does, but I don't think he would work as a lead character without being changed dramatically.
