Continuity errors
Before IMDB gets shut down, I thought I'd share the list of continuity errors that I've gathered over the past 15 years. Feel free to comment or add to this list.
Season 1: In Coach's Daughter (1-5) (right after the mid-show commercial break) and Showdown: Part 2 (1-22) (the opening vignette), the same 1-minute gag is repeated with Chuck getting a job in a biology lab where they do DNA experiments making mutant viruses. Chuck is played by the same actor, but the extras are different and everyone is wearing different clothing. Carla is vastly pregnant the 2nd time.
Season 2-episode 3, Personal Business. During the opening vignette, Mrs. Anderson (AKA Mrs. BlubberButt) goes upstairs to Melvilles for dinner. During the 2nd half of the show, she is in the background by the telphone sipping a drink.
1-8, 2-20, 11-18, 11-20 Norm's wedding date
==>In Truce of Consequences (1-8), Norm says it's his 10th anniversary and he's going out for pizza.
==>In Norman's Conquest (2-20), Norm mentions that he has been married for eleven years. No problem so far.
==>Nine years later in The Last Picture Show, (11-18) Gus, the previous owner of Cheers, stops in for a visit. Gus sold the bar to Sam 17 years ago. Gus talks about the times that newlyweds, Norm and Vera, used to dance in the bar. If we assume Norm was married 3 years before Sam bought the bar (i.e. 20 years ago), this would still not be a continuity error. HOWEVER:
==>Two episodes later (Look Before You Sleep - 11-20), during the opening vignette, Norm tells Sam that it's his 15th wedding anniversary.
Note: In "Sam's Women" (1-2), Norm mentions that Gus was TWO owners ago and Coach mentions that Gus is DEAD.
3-2 - Rebound: part 2 - A blonde woman with a robins-egg blue jacket and long blonde hair leaves the bar about 8 minutes in. About 5 minutes later, she is walking past Norm toward the back room.
4-17 As Frasier is about to marry Candi, Frasier asks if anyone can provide music. Woody volunteers to play the piano but he can only play Heart and Soul with 3 fingers. In "The Gift of the Woodi" 7-19, Woody appears to be an accomplished pianist when he plays the Kelly Song.
7-10 Bar Wars II: The Woodman Strikes Back - Gary's commercial on TV spells his tavern's name "old" whereas the sign outside says, "Olde Towne Tavern". IMDB also shows two additional continuity errors
7-12 Please Mr. Postman. (This is one CJH refuses to acknowledge whild CJH is quick to point out that Frasier said his father was dead.) Sam calls Rebecca's mother to find the name of Rebecca's favorite song. Sam finds out that Rebecca's favorite song is "You've lost that Lovin' Feeling". Even Sam's lips have this title when he tells Carla what he discovered. Later, Sam knocks on the office door.
Rebecca: Who is it?
Sam: Righteous Brothers
But Sam plays "Unchained Melody" on the tape recorder.
Some have said it was a licensing issue, but ... It couldn't have been a licensing issue as "Loving Feeling" was played four times in episodes 8-1, 8-15 & 8-16 (twice).
11-23 (Part 1 - Rebecca Gains, Rebecca Loses) During the opening vingette, Woody takes off his apron and rolls it into a ball. Five seconds later, Woody is again taking off his apron.
11-23 Later in the same episode, Cliff is in Sam's office. Sam opens the door to let Cliff leave. From inside Sam's office we can see two people standing in the bar talking. When Cliff leaves the bar, as seen from outside Sam's office, the two people are not there.
From inside the bar, on several occaions, a U.S. MAIL box (or a newspaper box) can be seen at the top of the stairs on Beacon Street. This is presumably to hid the fact that the stairs are not outside. Exterior views of Beacon Street show nothing against the railing.
I do want to point out that Yelnick McWawa has never been elected president.
