who should act in a remake?
shareThe problem you would have is you would never get the good/popular players to do this. As it is, they don't have enough off time anymore to film. I can't see a David Becham or Michael Owen stepping up.
You might be able to find some actors that could play well enough to fake it (I can't remember which one, but one of the kids from Home Improvement was an outstanding player and would be about the right age.) He'd be about the right age.
Perhaps Vinnie Jones as Hatch?

True no one can step into Bobby moore boot but in the movie Bobby moore played the character Terry Brady, so another player can replace the character not Bobby Moore same goes for Pele. Other brazilian football super star can replace find like Robinho or Rolandinio or may be Ronaldo
shareyou need someone humble to play the Pele character...how many Brazilian footballers these days can you describe as humble? I'd have Alan shearer in the Bobby Moore role. You could have Baggio in the Pele role (he has the charm to pull it off) with Teddy Sheringham, Eric Cantona, Romario and Gullit in there as extras. I'd definitely go to see that movie. Ray Winstone in the Michael Caine role?...lol

Lothar Matteaus and Oliver Kahn Andreas Brehme would be great for the german team, as a lot of them look effient like german soldiers.
I'm not sure who could pull off stallones role though, this movie came on the back of rocky 1 and rocky 2, and hes pretty skinny in this movie. As mentioned a Russell Crowe would probably have to be the man, However an American Brute would have to play the part. I think The Rock could actually pull it off, watch his movies and you will see what I mean. Perhaps Johnny Knoxville,
Michaels Caine's part is also a tough one, someone around the age of 40-45, had a long hard think about this one, and the best option I can come up with is Sean Bean. (When Saturday Comes) so can play football obviously and is a fan of sheffield United.
As for the rest of the players for Pele to be in the original albeit about 40 years old, he was still the most famour player in the world. In order to massively gross the movie you'd need Beckham in it, with a shaved head, as long as he didn't have much of a speaking part

Remake? Why? They are always worse than the original and this movie is pretty bad to start with.
Ben Hur was the only movie that was remade better than the original. It is the first law of movie making.
Now, be creative and come up with something new otherwise you are just not cut-out for the movie business.

They shouldn't even make a remake this film is a classic, and what would the seting be Past or present if it's present there wouldn't be much of a story.

shareThe problem is players these days are too girly to play prisoners of war. Bobby and Ozzy where at least believable. But c'mon, i could not see many of todays players looking at home in a POW camp. I couldn't even imagine the likes of Ronaldinho taking the kicking Pele gets in the match.

Come on, players don't get much more humnle than Ronaldinho...he's the best in the World currently imo and still doesn't even consider himself the best in Barcelona
