Does the Army really do 5-10 mile runs daily?

Currahee was 3 miles up, and 3 miles down. And Captain Sobel would make the whole company run it if someone hadn't stuffed their pants into their boots properly.

When my dad was in U.S. Navy boot camp, they sometimes had to run multiple laps around the perimeter of a large asphalt area referred to as "the grinder", carrying a rifle in their hands. That was in 1943. Don't know what they do today.
