Southern Comfort or Deliverance?

My vote is for Deliverance by a mile, though they are both excellent films with similar tones and stories. The strange feeling you get at the end of this film and at the beginning of Deliverance are, tone-wise, exactly the same in my opinion.

I like these calm little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven.

I'd have to go with Southern Comfort. I've only watched Deliverance only once completely. But I did find it to be a pretty powerful film for its time.

I've watched SC at least fifteen times, and eventually bought the DVD. This movie is one of my top five all-time favorites.

I guess because I grew up in south La around the time this movies was being shot is the reason. Those swamps, along with the culture and dialect just sort of hits home.

Not to mention, there was a banning controversy aimed towards this movie in that region. It was widely believed that this movie portrayed a negative, almost savage image of the "locals".

I couldn't wait to see it, and find out what all the hype was about. I wasn't disappointed.

Ditto that my brother. Creed

Overall, Deliverance is the better film.

That said, if you like this kind of stuff, I can't imagine liking one and disliking the other. They're both good, and both right down the same alley, and the both "deliver" the goods, heh heh.

Deliverance is consistently good from start to finish. Southern Comfort got really good near the end. Overall, I'd go with Deliverance, though I like Southern Comfort's ending better.

Both are great movies. But I found always Deliverance more scarier. So I prefer Deliverance and I'm agree at the end Southern Comfort is more powerful.

Southern Comfort is the better mvoie in my opinion. Deliverance is a good movie, don´t get me wrong, but I think SC has way better acting, is more suspenseful, has better music and is very intense.

No comparison! DELIVERANCE!

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

"Deliverance" is far and away a much better film than this – more suspenseful and believable, better acting and direction. "Southern Comfort" was very entertaining, but a lot of the scenes seemed like a reach.

Both good movies Deliverance is deeper more of an emotional journey mankind invading the wilderness Southern Comfort more of a straightforward action thriller

i enjoyed comfort movie. i thought it was more interesting and intense especially towards the end.

Southern Comfort, for me, but only just.

Deliverance is a great film that owed a lot to an original concept SC adapted.

However, the ending of Deliverance was a little bit of a washout. Plus because it had a major star as lead, Burt Reynolds, you kinda got the feeling that it doesn't what is going to happen to these "city boys" Reynolds will always save the day.

Whereas, with SC, you had a couple of B-list stars in Carradine & Boothe, so you never really had the same kind of star name distraction. And therefore anything was possible.

And I looked & I beheld a pale horse & the name that sat on him was Death & Hell followed with him.

Deliverence. It came first. This was kind of a rip off, in my humble opinion. Also, I Have always HATED Carradine.
