anyone else's all time favorite film?

This is definitely up there with Taxi Driver, Hana-Bi, Eureka (2001), Tetsuo, and El Topo as the best film ever, to me.

Not all time favorite, but it is definately my favorite "horror" (though any one genre description doesn't do it justice) movie of all time by a wide margin.

I'm with you.
Definately in my top 10.....if you allow yourself to be immersed, it is one of the strangest and disturbing experiences you can have with cinema.

Deep and meaningful, repulsive and intense....frightening and surreal.

It rates in my top ten worst of all time. Great story, a lot of great visuals and scenes, but too pretentious and tedious. Adjiani gives the performance of an overcooked ham.

I agree with Jesse.
It would probably make my top 10 worst. This movie could use the Mystery Science Theater treatment.. except that, it's too long for MST3K!.
And before you lash out, no I am not into Hollywood blockbuster type movies, thank you. I am a film buff. But, I am still entitled to not like this movie, if I so choose.
It had it's moments, certainly. But, just because it is full of pretentious allegory does not make it a great film. It had potential, but IMHO, failed.
What this film needs is an editor. It could have got its message across in under 2 hours, easily.
Perhaps Sam Neil should complete the trifecta of horrible possession related movies. He's certainly made two of them: The 3rd Omen Movie ("The Final Conflict"), and "Posession."
It is not actually a fact that Isabelle Adjani attempted suicide after watching this movie. But if it were true, you could hardly blame her. Although that would be a bit much. But so was this movie.

It has possibly jumped straight into my all-time (though flexible) top ten, following my premiere screening of it last night. If you're interested, it joins films such as Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid, Performance, Kings of The Road, Santa Sangre, Mystery Train, Rumble Fish, etc, etc.
I also highly recommend Zulawski's other films, at least the ones that I've seen: Third Part of The Night, L'Amour Braque and La Femme Publique.

It's my one of my favorite films of all time. No one will ever make another film quite like this one.

I`d put it my top 20, It`s such a strange, unforgettable and disturbing film. Adjani does actually seem possessed in this film. Amazing performance.

Cat`s, cat`s, cat`s, everywhere cat`s, but then, stepping out from the crowd, a single crab.

Top 5 without a doubt. Everything I look for in a film. Incredible performances and sickening, bleak atmosphere. An incredibly unnerving film. Brilliant.
