Had so much potential, but...

Unfortunately a major fail.

The plot could've had immense potential. But sadly, whoever wrote the script made it so damn boring. Seriously sleepy writing. Kinda baffling. And I love Sam Neil as an actor, but his performance in this was very underwhelming. I was shocked how awful some of the dialogue was. Not believable at all. For him being the antichrist, especially as an adult, everything felt so lackluster. Not intense, not scary, not serious. Just bland and boring.

With a plot like this, a full grown Damien Thorn; there could've been a plot for terror and greatness. But damn it failed on so many levels. So many horrible subplots. And honestly, I wasn't even a huge fan of the score, unlike the previous Omen films. It was really unfitting and sometimes too uplifting for such a dark plot, if that makes sense.

And the abrupt and non climatic ending was wickedly bad.

Overall - this film failed.

Sure, it could have been better but I think it fit the trilogy rather well. Part 2 wasn't exactly a great film either but it was a pretty good setup for "the final conflict". It had pretty good scenes in it too. Like, that opening shot of the guy setting up the gun with the door and the large gathering with Damien's speech. That speech was pretty good.

But yeah, as a stand alone film, it's just decent but combined with the 3 films, I thought it was pretty good.

I personally think The Omen 2 was the best installment.

O2 has it's moments, I like it, but I do think the original is the best film of the 3. However, I would take O2 over Final Conflict. FC is probably the weakest of the three films. In fact, Omen 4 might actually be better than FC.

I love our Sam Neil and I’m hesitant to trash any movie he’s in, but there’s no denying this was terrible. For me the only Omen film worth watching (besides the original) was the recent First Omen, surprisingly. Still doesn’t come close to the first but it was an entertaining prequel.
