Dumb male
Is Ron Silver's character one of the most stupid males in cinema history? It annoys the cr$p out of me every time I want to watch Barbara Hershey, who is fabulous in this film.

shareNot stupid. Dedicated to a fault. There are plenty of people like him, fundamentalist materialists who are both bright and sincere, but who cannot or will not acknowledge that they have a blind spot regardng the paranormal. Silver's character never really saw anything truly inexplicable until the very end. Prior to that time, the "evidence" Hershey presented was anecdotal.
shareWell, I think he meant well but he went a little too far with the suggestion that she was trying to project subconscious thoughts. I wouldn't have gone back to see him after that either. But in the end, I do believe he wanted what was best for Carla. It's just that what he thought was best and what actually was best were two different things.
shareWhile I thought he was dumb too, I felt he was a very realistic character.
Very very few people, especially so~called experts in the medical field, would truly believe that a demon exists. Never mind that one is attacking one of their patients.
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.
He was a bit annoying but I felt he was probably a very accomplished professional on his own field and that he most likely had a lot of success in treating psychological problems in the past. Given the rarity of what it really was, he strongly believed it was another psychological problem and had probably developed a bit of an emotional attachment too, as he admired her for being on her own, working, managing her kids, etc.
shareDumb male? Lol, so if someone has a problem with a female character, it's cool to say 'dumb female' or will you complain about sexism?
