If only they made them like this today...

1. Lovecraft inspired
2. Practical EFX
3. Over the top gore
4. Extremely low budget

Those are the ingredients to a fun little horror flick from an era when horror films were great! Nowadays, all the EFX/gore is CGI, and it stars actors/actresses that look like they are models rather than regular looking people! Plus, what's more, it feels like it is shot on a tiny sound stage rather than location shooting! And the digital (rather than 35mm format) makes it look too much like it was made for SYFY!

Yes, this is a great movie. One I've seen about 4 or 5 times and love more each time I see it.

Yeah, even though I didn't like this film I still prefer the old school low budget horror movies to the new ones for pretty much the reasons you said plus a few more

Definitely true. Especially when compared to Paranormal CRAPtivity and any PG13 rated horror made since 2000.

You can ONLY watch this Masterpiece in non-anamorphic 2.35:1 . Anyone agree?
