Ms. Dickinson's role and scenes seem dispensible. Who was she married to and why was she there? It seems these scenes could have been left on the cutting room floor and it would have not detracted from the movie. They only seemed to round out Marvin's character. It was nice to see both the actors from Point Blank reunited, though.
Completely agree. Hollywood, in making a more marketable film, took tons of liberties in depicting the Albert Johnson case. The inclusion of Angie Dickinson is one of them. The Carl Weathers character should have been portrayed by a person of Yukon native descent.
Adding a token hot blonde and black man, neither of which were present in the Yukon in 1931, sells tickets and dvds.
I'm all for some liberties in making an entertaining film over a dry documentary, but this film went too far. Rather sad considering that the real story, fact for fact, has everything necessary to make a very compelling movie.
I didn't mind Weather's character, because he at least had a point and a role in the story. Dickinson was just sort of there, with scenes that had zero point and did nothing to advance the plot or develop the characters. Even when I was a kid and saw this, I couldn't figure out what the hell she was doing there or what purpose she served.
Adding a token hot blonde and black man, neither of which were present in the Yukon in 1931...
Yup, in the entire Yukon territory a mere 90 years ago there wasn't a single attractive white female or black man, not even just visiting. (Rolling my eyes).

According to Wikipedia ( not the best source I know) but Dickinson says the best was always small but she took the role because she wanted to work with Charles & Lee. Had they not been cast, she wouldn't have done the role.
