So I just watched DNOTS for the first time and I was suprised at how top notch the performances were and of special note, Charles Durning, who else thought he really rose to the occasion and elevated the movie? You really get a sense of him drifting deeper and deeper into madness and depravity.

Yes, his performance was incredible. He made it so you could truly hate the character and want him to get what he deserves for the evil deeds he committed. He played the role of the evil, despicable excuse for a human being quite perfectly.
