Yes, 30 years later, it still holds up. This is filmmaking.
shareFeck 30 times jesus christ - i just seen it once - and what a steaming turd of suffocating borefest.I barely have the willpower so overpowering is the toxic tedium it generates. It needs a director cut of at least 25 mins
Sorry - not for me :)

I bet you loved Toy Story 4 bud?
Cutters way is a classic film and an absolute masterpiece of Social commentary and philosophy.
I watched it once about a year ago. I don't recall very much about it, except the ending seemed a little ridiculous. I read the book beforehand, which was better. I was let down by the movie.
John Heard seemed to be trying to bring off a poor impression of Ryan O'Neal doing a cartoonish crippled war-vet/hippie. I actually thought it was O'Neal until I checked the credits 20 minutes into the movie. Probably one of the more unlikable protagonists I've ever seen. Bridges was a little better. I can almost imagine Bone growing up to become The Dude 30 years later.
What a glaring lack of observation and appreciation of talent, sorry for your loss bud.
sharethe ending was biblical.

"Cutter's Way" is in my Top 5 U.S. films of all time (yes, I know Passer is Czech).
I watch it once a year at minimum. The noir narrative is as fresh and contemporary today as it was in 1981. It works on multiple levels.
