For all of you people out there saying, "That movie sucked and had no redeeming intellectual value whatsoever," I have a newsflash for you: IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE ANY REDEEMING VALUE! It's just stupid stuff that's freaking hilarious. Mindless stuff. Dennis Quaid peeing ice? Ringo drawn with a small head and huge schnoz? THE CLAY-MATION DINOS?! Yeah, yeah, not sophisticated at all. And don't get me wrong, I love sophisticated comedy--I look at the crap they have out today and I weep (Half Baked? Please. I'm laughing, but for all the wrong reasons). But this thing is funny.

it is hilarious!!!,i really liked it, my teacher made me watch it and i think it's a bad movie with a great cast,but i wouldn't watch it again...sorry about my poor english

Yeah, this movie may have been a mistake for everyone involved, maybe it shouldn't have been made, I don't know. I did laugh though. I've seen st00pider "comedies" that can't even achieve that. The "ice cubes" scene almost made me choke up what I was drinking when I saw it recently. THAT, was funny.

I agree.
People I know would say "what a stupid movie, it has no redeeming features whatever!". It may come as a surprise to such people that movies are made to entertain; be it that they make you think, make you cry, make you laugh or whatever, as long as they entertain. If a movie achieves this then I say it has all the redeeming features it requires.
This movie has always been a personal favourite and one I quote from time to time. Ten out of ten for entertainment and the rest of you can get zug-zugged.

thank you so much. This movie makes me laugh whenever I see it. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen it in some time now. I miss seeing it. Don't have time to go rent it, maybe can get my daughter to buy it for me for xmas. Anyhow, would anyone happen to know where exactly was that scene filmed where Ringo and Shelly were in that water canyon with the beautiful white rocks? I know this movie was filmed in Durango, Mexico, but what is that beautiful place actually called? Anyone???? Help. Thanx in advance.

Back in 1982, when this came out on HBO, I was 8 or 9. I vaguely remember the silly dinosaur eating this weird type of bushy plant and then zonking out and asking my dad, "dad whats going on" and my dad grinning and just tossing it aside, "never mind".

This film has limited spoken English,but from the gestures of the cast, and context played out,you feel what the movie is about; Ringo plays a comic "Alley Oop" and shows us how to laugh and dance; The characters have their own "Discovered" Vocabulary, and it is quite amusing when you see how they progress in speech.There is also a wonderful scene of them singing at a fireside rock concert. Romance plays the central theme of this movie, as Starr(Atouk)tries to woo Bach( Lana), wife of a tribal leader, and makes us giggle in the attempt.

Shelley Long plays Tala,attractive female from another gang,and she proves to be devoted and caring in the role. It is a cute,loveable film that makes for enjoyable Fun.

Completely agree. I still watch it several times a year. I'm just amazed that more people don't watch it. If they'd put it in theatres at midnight showings, I'd go see it, along with probably my entire family.

I recently recommended this to some friends that were born around the time this movie came out (I was a whopping ten years old when it came out) and when I asked how they liked it they said they couldn't make it to the end (they made it to the bug squashing scene, but not much more). Is it because I watched it when it was new that I have a fondness for this movie? I don't know. Perhaps I should have been there to explain the subtle humor and complexities of the movie to them (yeah, right). Or maybe they just needed to have a few beers before watching it. Go figure.

I remember my dad watching this one over and over. :-) I didn't catch on to the bush scene either. :-) It was hilarious but not pointless. Barbara Bach and Ringo are still married.

Fun movie! So what if it's not a cerebral masterpiece? It's funny and entertaining. Young Shelly Long and Dennis Quaid. Good stuff.
