George Costanza!!!
I was dying watching 5'5 Jason Alexander trying to market himself as a teen heart throb in this movie. His pathetic attempts at charisma had me in tears it was so funny!

shareIt doesn't matter what role he plays, he's always gonna be George "Cantstandya"
What was funny about this movie was that even though they were at summer camp, all the boys take their shirts off except George, he even went swimming in that jersey.
I think he and the director realized too late that he was in need of a few thousand sit-ups so they just said " you, tubby... go ahead and just swim with your shirt on"
Of course... lots of (fat) kids do it. Although I don't see the point as a wet shirt doesn't exactly hide anything.
Actually, Woodstock didn't take his shirt off either...and he wasn't fat.
I hate IMDb sometimes! They are never any when you need it.

My friend just finished watching this movie, and said Jason Alexander was the only fun character. I can see that.
shareI had to drop by IMDb to confirm Jason Alexander was in this film LOL. Almost didn't recognized him because he had hair hahaha

LMAO!!! yeah he was ridiculous.
"some look into a mirror and don't see evil. It doesn't reflect evil, but creates it."
Are you sure it wasn't just a part of the character?
Allow me to elaborate. The girls didn't seem like they were about to faint around him, so I doubt he was intended to be much of a heart throb. The girls seemed to find him funny or fun, but not like they were particularly attracted. He was one of the nerds, damn it. The way I saw it, he was that one nerd who thinks he's a player. Like Howard in The Big Bang Theory.
I liked his character.

...Screw ze clearance. Ve vill *take* that plane.
I agree with this 100% ^^^
Stick an egg in your shoe, and beat it!

Truth. And I could've gone further.
On another note, how freakin' poorly written wasn't my previous post?! There isn't even a semblance of flow in it. It's almost painful to read.

Oh, kick-€$@&%!-ass! I got a MasterCard!
Agreed. That was the intent and I felt like it made the character more fleshed out and believable.
shareYeah I don't think he was meant to be a heart throb at all, if anything he was meant to be that tubby friendly guy, that pretty much everyone seemed to like.
shareThis is it exactly. Everyone in 'The Burning' fits a very particular stereotype, and Alexander was playing the easy-go-lucky goofball of the group, in between the snivelling weeds and the aggressive alpha males. I think everyone more or less gave what the script and the direction asked of them.
shareI thought he was the most likable character ever to be in a slasher movie. It's not huge praise, but I also wouldn't say it's backhanded, since there's been so many slasher movies.
shareI thought he was in pretty good shape! But still an amusing and pleasant suprise to see him in this. I blinked my eyes thinking is that Holly Hunter?! Quite a curio in light of the careers of some of the cast a crew. Not a bad little horror either.

He could have said to Glazer, "The jerk store called, they're running out of you!"
What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

^^ Awesome!
"Half 10, I've never been up at half 10! What Happens?"
I think maybe they didnt take their shirts off cause they had real hairy chests, we know George does watching seinfeld
old MACs look cool but are pretty much useless these days
Everyone overall seemed to be friends in this one. If anything it was Glazer who nobody could stand. None of the boys could stand him, and Jason/Fisher/The lead guy stood up for Alfred when it came to him, and the girls just seemed to humor him more than anything. So yeah Jason was just playing a guy everyone got along with. Like all the others :).
shareHe was slightly cute for the time...he had one of the more fully fleshed out characters, you felt you kinda knew him with what little info you had on him, I would have given him more screen time or a death scene or something, he clearly was more talented than many of the cast, and had already been on Broadway that same year in a Stephen Sondheim musical.

He could have said to Glazer, "The jerk store called, they're running out of you!"
He wasn't trying to portray himself as a teen "heart throb." Just a smooth talking funny kid. But it was funny he was 22 trying to play a teenager ha ha
shareBrian Backer is even more ridiculous. He must've been 24-26 when he filmed this and Fast Times. He looks so creepy spying in the woods in this movie and pining away in Fast Times.
shareNot fat...stocky! I remember seeing the movie on cable and liking Dave's attitude towards everything. He was the kind of guy you could go to get anything, would stand up to anyone, try to help you out, etc. Even when he's yelling "are you crazy!" at Glaser was matched when Kramer tried out his joy-buzzer on George years later.
