I'm developing a real fondness for holiday themed slashers:

Black Christmas - original
Silent Night Deadly Night
Christmas Evil
My Bloody Valentine - original
Halloween (duh)

If there are any holidays I missed be sure to let me know!

Halloween
The Burning
Friday the 13th Part 2
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Scream

Most of these are kind of obvious choices, given the popularity of the films. But for me these are slasher royalty. The Burning isn't quite as high profile as the others, but it's a classic nonetheless. Cropsy is one of the better slasher villains to come out of the genre's heyday, and the raft scene is pretty singular.

Honorable mentions:

Black Christmas
April Fool's Day
Madman
Slumber Party Massacre
Cold Prey
It Follows
Halloween II
H20
Friday the 13th Part 4
ANOES 3
New Nightmare
Scream 4

Halloween (This movie is just classic horror, great characters and atmosphere)
Scream (I loved how it poked fun at slashers, but was still scary, had great story and characters)
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (Jason is super brutal in this one, it scares me and i love the characters Ted and Jimbo)
The Burning (The raft massacre still spooks me to this day)
Silent Night, Deadly Night (Possibly one of the greatest story lines in a slasher film, and the kills are entertaining)

Halloween (1978)
Black Christmas (1974)
Happy Birthday To Me
My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Hell Night

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.

Not all are slashers. If you want gore, the above films are anemic.

Good grief. All the ones I listed are slashers. Not sure what your gore comment has to do with anything.

But make sure you go back and tell all of the other posters who have the exact same movies on their lists that they aren't slashers either.

Slashers don't have to have gore to be a slasher IY. Sometimes there is a fine line between a generic slasher and a deviation into a thriller cum creature feature; but still plays along the lines of a slasher presentation as in Tobe Hooper's THE FUNHOUSE-81'. I'd say if it's got a main antagonist stalking it's victims in spooky weird and wonderful settings and uses a certain theme as it's backdrop, then the films on the list you have quoted are all slashers or "quasi" slashers.

Sometimes I think the less graphic ones can play out better, instead of attempting to impress upon with latex, buckets of fake blood and lets see how original and gruesome we can make the kill, and foregoing atmospheric horror, excitement and suspense.

Exorcist: Christ's power compels you. Cast out, unclean spirit.
