Would you do this job if it was offered to you

Be a off-season caretaker in a isolated Hotel - I would do it but I am not sure being locked-up day & night during all winter would be good for my sanity.

I would probably spend all my time in the Gold Room - Picking up 1920's chicks & drinking free bourbons on the rocks & watching Al Bowlly live in concert...

Sign me up.

I imagine an old hotel like that has a fabulous library (or would have in 1980). You could probably read a lot of what is on the shelf that interests you while tending to the boilers and fixing broken things.

Plus, the Snowcat would have been fun in between snow falls.

You could make some major gourmet meals in that kitchen too.

Sounds like the perfect job for me actually.

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.

I'd be curious to find out how many pages of "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" I could crank out.

Don't put the devil in the picture, cause' the religious groups won't wanna see it.

I'm not entirely sure if I would do it. But I would definitely consider it. I'm somewhat of a misanthrope who isn't good it, or enjoys socializing with other people. I have often been keen on living as a hermit, somewhere I'd have little to no contact with others. So it would definitely appeal to me in that respect.

In a heartbeat, I'd love it, all the food you can eat, plenty of room to move around in. Free board, and also get paid for it. Wouldn't scare me in anyway.

"I have no recollection of that."---the obscene spectre Delbert Grady.

It seems that a lot of the posters here didn't really watch/understand the film at all, are all unconsciously envious of Jack Torrance.

STUART ULLMAN: Well, obviously some people can be put off by the idea of staying alone in a place where something like that actually happened.

JACK TORRANCE: Well, you can rest assured Mr. Ullman, that's not going to happen with me! And as far as my wife is concerned, I am sure she'll be
absolutely fascinated when I tell her about it. She's a confirmed ghost story and horror film addict!

You want to be(come) another Jack Torrance ...

I'd do it as long as I had plenty of booze, porn and a fleshlight.

Only if you really need the prolonged peace and quiet. I imagine those who have lived in cities all their lives may welcome such a drastic change of pace.

I woukd do it in a heartbeat. As long as it paid enough.

I would take it, but spend it / my family.

Are you asking if one would take a job at a haunted hotel like the Overlook, or a non-haunted one?

Either way, I'm not sure if I would enjoy it. Big empty houses kind of creep me out, and this would be that X 100.
