Who watched this film as a kid and what parts scared you the most?

I wathed The shining when I was 11 and the parts that really scarred me were the twins, the blood from the elevator, the 237 room scene, and the very ending.

How about you?

ROOM 237 scene kept me awake all night after I seen it...that evil laugh haunted me for weeks. I was 11 lol

Love that scene and I like the part where jack has backed out of the door and you can still hear the laughing as hes nervously backing down the hall, the lighting in that scene is really eerie with the foreground lights off but the light in the hallway behind jack is left on casting some great shadows.

Me and my brother were most terrified by the bear costume scene, it was just so surreal and creepy especially with that music cue, my younger brother literally jumped and gasped and it still disturbed us with subsequent viewings to where my brother would hesitantly look at the screen. Later on I burned that song onto a cd, put in a boom box on high volume and put it in my brothers room and hit play when he wasn't looking and I had never seen anyone run down a hall faster in my life. He described it later as saying he was going so fast he wasn't seeing normally and it was as if he was seeing jump cuts all the way down the hall into the kitchen.

I was 7 or 8 and the lady in the tub scared me most. The whole of the party scene as well....not sure why but yeah....those 2 scenes

I didn't see this film until I was a teenager....and the only thing that really made me catch my breath (and it's because it was rather beautiful) was the slow-motion blood pouring out of the elevator.

Aside from that, I think the film's more eerie than actually scary.

I consider the skeletons in the dark lobby to be the scariest. There is something so mysterious about it.

Saw this when I was around 8 or 9. It's my all time favorite horror movie ever since. The scene with the twins laying dead on the floor scared me the most back then.
