This is The Amityville Horror in a hotel, nothing more. Yet for some reason it has the laughable rating of 8.4 and a classic like Jaws gets saddled with an 8, and 2001 the movie that changed EVERYTHING also rates lower on here. People who rated this movie a 10 are idiots. This is nowhere near the best Kubrick film, it's one of the worst.

No, mate....It's you who is the idiot. This is a masterful film and to suggest it is a "piece of crap" makes you seem like an ignorant child.
I don't think it is a piece of crap but I do think it is overrated. I give it a 7/10. Its called the Shining. The kid can "shine" and that was intriguing. Turns out it isn't about that at all. I personally really hate the 100-gallons-of-blood-is-scary thing. It is hammy and absurd in a "my sword is covered in 100 additional tiny swords" kind of way. I hate it everywhere it turns up.
I love certain parts of the movie but feel that it is messy and unfocused. I rank this and Dr Strangelove as Kube's two worst films (of what I've seen). Just my opinion. I don't think anyone who 10s this is stupid.
