Totally Underrated.....

I am highly dissapointed that this movie has a rating it does, I thought it deserved at least a 6.5- 7.5.
And a razzie nomination for Marlon Brando? Common.. I dont agree with people knocking Marlon, he is very misunderstood. When he takes on a character, he has a certain flare he brings to the character, and sometimes no flare, depending on the character, whatever it calls for, or whatever he believes it will take to make it most believable. He is One of the best if not the best of all time. George.C. Scott was great, not the greatest of plot's, but it was very overlooked.

I give this film overall a solid 6 i could tell marlon was in his element .It was like when he did the godfather. You could tell he was into being there i think marlons best works .Were with meanings that had meaning and substance like this one.You can tell he really got into his role in this film it seemed like he enjoyed it .

I am usually very good at placing myself in the period of a film and enjoying slower-moving plots but this one just lost me. Aside from Brando's bizarro performance, it was just very disengaging and slow. Also had to roll my eyes when Marthe Keller seduced George C. Scott. Scott was many things, and a fine actor, but to be the object of affection from a woman 30 years his junior was stretching things.

Actually Marthe is 17 years and 3 months younger than Scott, not 30 years. The female being that much younger is hardly unusual, then or now.

Also, women are attracted to more than just good looks and closeness-of-age; things like charisma, confidence, compatibility and the ability to bring the bread home are all important. Scott's character, Caine, arguably fits all those descriptions.
