What do you mean, "devolve?" There's absolutely nothing wrong with this movie. It's a masterpiece of camp, cult cinema.

shareThis is one of the best "It's Saturday afternoon and I'm lazy" movies of all time. It's just a fun ride with great visuals. Ming is one of my favorite villains and who doesn't love Brian Blessed's Prince Vultan??? Toss in a rockin' Queen soundtrack, sexy Princess Aura, freakin' laser beams and you got a great flick.
Let's not forget my idol Jek Porkins himself William Hootkins with a quick cameo in the beginning.
I would honestly pop this in over any Marvel flick, and I love Marvel movies.
agreed! i just realized porkins was with zarkov in the beginning. lot's of great actors in this one. aura is super hot. once the football scene happens in the beginning i get hooked.

Now that the MCU has turned into almost CW-tier woke garbage, this movie runs circles all around the MCU films.
Even before MCU devolved into wokeness, this is still an awesome movie that has one of the best theme songs of all time, and some of the coolest action sequences put to film.
