I think the "Mr and Mrs Tideman" motif in the score is one of the most haunting and lovely pieces of music I've ever heard in a movie.
The main theme is great, too. Military and heroic, just suited the story perfectly.
The Final Countdown is one of three movies that made me a soundtrack collector over 40 years ago. The other two are Superman The Movie and Bond-movie Moonraker. They were composed by three John's: Scott, Williams and Barry.
