Other Time Travel Movies

I see people talking about Back to the Future as another time travel film. What other time travel films have you seen and liked. One of my favs is Time Rider.

reply

For all time with Mark Harmon and The two worlds of Jenny Logan are also romantic time-travel tv-films. And then there is Millennium with Kris Kristofferson and Cheryl Ladd, and Grand Tour: Disaster in Time: a great movie with Jeff Daniels!
I also remember Timeshifters/Thrill Seekers and Timeline, but I didn't like them as much as the above mentioned.

Many years ago I saw a time-travel related film. I can't remember the name and I've been searching for it ever since!

It's about a time machine built on a military ship some decades ago, and the whole ship gets sent into some kind of time-hole. 2 of the crewmen fall off the ship and land in the present day...

Rings a bell? If so, you made my day! :P

The Philadelphia Experiment (1984)

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frequency is another fun time travel story, though it's only voices that time travel, allowing conversation between the past and present.

Of course, there's the movie version of the novel that I think might actually be the granddaddy of all time travel stories, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court.

reply

As for novels, you could be be right. Twain`s effort was first published in 1889. whilst Wells` Time Machine was published in 1895.

reply

Well, it generally isn't considered a "time travel" story, but Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" (not a novel but a novella) was published before the Wells or the Twain.

And why not consider it a time travel story? Even if you are just seeing shadows?

Well, someone *finally* mentions "T.P.E." Couldn't believe it took that many posts!

reply

Philadelphia Experiment is a different movie about a Navy experiment. The movie in question here is "The final countdown" starring Martin Sheen and Kirk Douglas.

reply

The Philadelphia Experiment and The final Countdown are two different movies, both involving navy ships and time travel... FYI.

The Night Stalker (tv: remember Kolchalk?)
