Tripper and Roxanne?

Is anyone else puzzled by Tripper's strong physical attraction to Roxanne in this movie? Is that really the actress to cast for that part when the script calls for Tripper to feel that way about her? She looks like a boy next to the other girls.

Yes, it was odd. I know all the little feminists and 'let's just say nice things' folks here will argue, but I found her extreme tomboy looks and build blaah. On the other hand, she DID do a fine job grounding Murray's wild man. The end especially shows this.

These pc-obsessed times are getting old.

I think she was perfectly attractive...but it was summer camp and she was not sexed up....but the question is why would Tripper go for her....Well he knew her and she was a woman who challenged him.

And keep in mind that his outward perv/showman personality was just that a show...He was a decent guy as seen in his taking Rudy under his wing...or his ability to lead the campers....Even at the end when he asks Roxanne to live with him....She hadn't lived with anyone before...and neither had he...despite his image of lothario. She and he were in the same place in their lives.

I was kinda tipsy when I watched Meatballs over the weekend, and at one point during a Tripper/Roxanne scene I said to the TV "Bill, dude, you can do better."

I agree with most of the posts here. She couldn't have been less attractive if they tried. At the very leas they should have had him go after Candace.

"I thought it worked. It's not like Bill Murray's gracing the covers of romance novels or anything."

This explains it PERFECTLY......besides, the heart wants what the heart wants, even if it doesn't make any sense to anybody else.

Also, and most importantly.......it's just a movie.
