Faux Hitchcock Movie?

Anyone else think this was an "homage" to Hitchcock?

1. Melodramatic build-up re: Seemingly innocent mystery woman (though not a blonde)

2. Death in bell tower

3. Seemingly malevolent, repressed man (professor) as red herring

4. Cameo by director aboard public transportation

5. Deadly climax with villainess dispatched by natural wonder

6. Any other similarities you can think of?

Vibe nothing! It absolutely gives away the ending, which btw, I easily foresaw.

Watching it reminded me of both Vertigo and a film noir film from the 40s, even the dialogue was very classic noir.
