Why would Ted risk looking like a weirdo and kiss a complete stranger?

Sometimes things happen in movies and it makes for a funny moment or a cute scene but in reality these things would just not happen. Ted FINALLY gets a job in such a crucial part of his life, would he really just go up to a complete stranger at a company Christmas party and kiss them on the mouth? For all he knew it could have been the bosses wife or SOMEBODY else's wife or she could have been one of the heads of the company. Why would he do such a silly thing like that?

I felt that way too a bit, about that scene.
Ted took some chances kissing a stranger (co-worker most likely!) there.

But I guess it was just to show us that not only was he happy that he was employed & could support his son again....but that he was THAT happy that he got a little giddy & carried away lol.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?

He was sitting there for a while, while the 2 bosses talked. During that time, he probably saw this girl, realized that she didn’t work there (or something), and saw that he could kiss her on the mouth without repercussions.
