Too many shows are remade, and they're not remade very good either...
I don't mind a show being an influence for another (e.g. "Firefly" was definitely influenced by "Blake's 7" (a show made some 20 years earlier), but these outright "reboots" have had typically no redeeming values.
Besides, if they did reboot it, all the suaveness and intellectual aspects would be replaced with lame attempts of campy comedy...
Sadly, that's all too true. The current 21 Jump Street, and the upcoming Dark Shadows are prime examples.
Yes, I can see it now: they'd turn Steel into either a boorish womanizer or a prat-falling clown, and Sapphire would be the cliché dumb blonde. Unfortunately, the idiots would eat it up and the film would gross hundreds of millions.
