Favorite Scenes, Anyone?

I know for me, hands down, my favorite scene is when Max knocks out his probabtion officer (M. Emmett Walsh) in the car, handcuffs him to the fence and pulls his pants down...one of the great scenes in cinema history! I chuckle just thinking about it...and thinking about the hundreds of people I would love to do the same thing to.

Any scene with Walsh.

Max breaking into the pawn shop to steal the shotgun.

The opening sequence, no words, just Hoffman walking around, doing things to the sound of David Shire's amazing theme.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

One of my fave scenes is in the beginning, he's at the hot dog stand and tries to walk away w/o paying.

I didn't see it like that, I think it comes more from the fact that he just got out of prison where you don't pay for food, you walk along the counter, take your food and go , he just forgot, still used to the way inside. Which is mirrored when he explains to his girl that money doesn't "exist" inside.

By the way, the beating of Manny is my favorite scene, so brutal and unexpected from a guy like Hoffman. The beating of his parole officer has a comical release to it which lightens its brutality and its effectiveness whereas the beating of Manny is just plain brutal, the sound is realistic, the acting is great, it looks and sounds like real violence and that makes it haunting.
