Funniest part of the movie?

When Vincent Gardenia had everyone in the livingroom together & he was questioning them, I think is one of the funniest moments in the movie. Especially the way Max acted.

I thought the funniest part of the movie was when Dyan Cannon and Charles Grodin realizae Leo Farnsworth is still alive right after they think they've killed him and Julia Farnsworth can't stop screaming. Cannon and Grodin are just BRILLIANT in this film.

So many. Indeed Dyan Cannon and Charles Grodin are fantastically hilarious in this movie. One of the dinner scenes, where Warren, in white uniform, innocently asks about rumors of a company merger being leaked being "dishonest". Grodin's facial expressions during that conversation are priceless.
When Dyan Cannon drops her spoon after Beatty asks her how she's doing and how she later drops her bottle when he does the same in the hallway.

Also Beatty's first scene in polo attire with Julie Christie, when the tea arrives and he's all "uh's" and "ah's" and she asks him about Pagglesham and he again responds with "Uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh" and she explodes "Pagglesham, Pagglesham, that's what we've been talking about!!!!"

"We can porpuses?(sp)?"

"The bastard bought my football team."
"How did that happen?"
"Well, I asked for 67 million and he said yes"
"Ruthless bastard!"

Jack Warden's snort when Beatty tells him he wants to try out as a quarterback is soooooo good and funny.

It's just a very good, warm, funny, sweet movie.

The pained expression on the butler's face every time Joe is in a "costume" and asks..Do i play polo? Do I sail?...Not really, Sir...No Sir...So Funny.

For me, one of the funniest parts was after Joe talks to Betty. He returns home and the scene cuts to showing that Julia and Abbot in bed together (not surprising). Joe knocks on Julia's door. Julia knocks Abbot off the bed and he hides behind some curtains. Joe comes into the room and says:

Joe: Look, you don't love me. I don't love you. Let's get a divorce.
Julia: Really! I don't know what you're talking about!

Then, Joe makes it known that he knows Abbot is somewhere in the room, Joe asks him a question and after a brief pause Abbot answers and makes his presence known and Joe leaves the room.

Julia: You idiot! Why did you answer him?!
Abbot: His will is overpowering...

In the next scene, Joe throws his jacket on his bed and a screen glass (or whatever) comes down on the bed. He's surprised at first and then remembers that Julia and Abbot are trying to kill him.

Later, Abbot and Julia are in bed again certain that Joe is dead. Then, Joe goes upto Julia's room and shows the naughty couple that he is NOT dead and once again makes it known that he knows that Abbot and Julia are sleeping togther behind his back.

What really got to me was that Joe was trying to act normal despite discovering that his "wife" and personal secretary are being unfaithful to him and planning to murder him. ^^
Great movie. *sigh* Those were the good ol' days...

YES, that part is so hilarious. I replayed it several times. Charles Grodin's deadpan humor is priceless.

Oh, that's easy. At the end of one of the most ear-piercing screams ever uttered (by Dyan Cannon), it is innocently explained that 'Mrs. Farnsworth saw a mouse....not now, earlier...but she relives it!!'

It's one of those head-shaking, 'omigod-these-people-are-insane' kind of funny moments!!

and another scream from Mrs Farnsworth when the butler comes into the garden. I also crack up at the butler bringing 3 cups to the closet on the stairs because Mr Farnsworth might wish to offer tea to his invisible guests.

Sisk,Bentley, whip up a liver and whey shake.

And the butler holding his underwear out for Leo(Joe) to step into.

The "relives it" remark was hilarious, probably the best in the movie. But I also like when they're out in the garden and Grodin's trying to keep her from screaming, and the butler comes out. Why would Farnsworth's assistant be out in the garden with his SCREAMING wife? It's brilliant.

I personally love the scene in the way-station, where Joe is doing push-ups but all you can see is his head as it pokes above the fog...hilarious!

"I like rich people. I like the way they live, and I like the way I live when I'm with them."

I personally loved when he's in the board room and he's talking about how he wouldn't stop eating grapes, he LIKES grapes, haha. That was just so funny to me. Or when he said do you want to save a penny for a fish who thinks?

Julia/Abbott were beyond hilarious - played to perfection.

I liked the part where Dyan Cannon said, "I should be cannonized." It was hilarious on a number of different levels.

Oh, I agree. This scene was TOTALLY hysterical. Also, the scenes with Joe in the closet with Mr. Jordan. And, all the scenes with Dyan Cannon and Charles Grodin are just top notch. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! ...........fp

I thought Charles Grodin and Dyan Cannon were a scream in HEAVEN CAN WAIT.

When Warren Beatty starts going off in the board meeting and all his cronies including Charles Grodin are thinking to themselves, "What the hell is this?"

My favorite part is the line after he tells Dyan Cannon they are getting divorced.

Paraphrasing:
"I don't love you and you don't love me so let's get divorced."

She laughs, then says "Leo, I don't know what you're talking about."

Beatty throws up his hands and goes "Oh, come on. Yes you do."

The way he says that line always cracks me up. One of the few times I ever rewound a film and watched a joke twice because it cracked me up so much. That whole scene is priceless.

I personally enjoyed the training montage, where they show Joe and the staff working out as the soundtrack plays, intermixed with quick cuts to Max saying "This'll never work" or "He's just crazy" or "What am I gonna say to the team"...the direction and editing in this film is *so* good.

I also LOVED the LA Rams scenes, such as the locker room scene with RG Armstrong where he says "Leo Farnsworth just bought this team, and he wants to play quarterback" and then you hear a buncha players cursing quietly under their breath...hilarious!

And the scrimmage was awesome. Deacon Jones basically playing himself was *perfect*...although I wondered why his name was Gorman. And when Joe completes the first pass, then they quick cut to the huddle and Joe is jumping up and down with glee, while one player says "take it easy Mr. Farnsworth" then another quick cut to defense as they're cursing and blaming each other for the reception. Completely hysterical.
