I still haven't had anyone give me a good reason how Michael can drive a car.
And how could Michael really know his way back to the house from the looney bin when the last time he was out in the real world was when he was 6-years-old?

shareUnfortunately, the original viewers who saw the film way back in 1978 would've had to wait until 1995 to see this explained in the classic horror movie, "Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers."
The short short version: Evil led him home to Haddonfield.
Maybe by destination, but the ability to drive?
shareI suppose it would be very easy for Evil to make someone drive a car.
I do wonder if evil puts the turn signals on at lights and stop signs, though.
Evil keeps him from having a criminal record.
shareThat made me lol
shareWe can 100% certain that Evil made him drive slow in the left lane.
shareYou mean the terrible movie that just made Michael Myers the lackey of a coult? No thank you.
shareWhat's wrong with Loomis' explanation?
shareI don't recall what he said.
shareDuring the conversation between Loomis and the doctor at the hospital, the latter expresses astonishment at how Michael would be able to go Haddonfield since he can't drive. Loomis replies that somebody at the hospital must've given him lessons. This can mean two things, I think. You either take that remark literally and a hospital employee did in fact teach him how to drive (and perhaps provided him with books, maps, etc). Or you go with the supernatural angle and Loomis mocks the doctor's naivity. Michael is able to drive a car to Haddonfield simply because he's evil.
shareI'm guessing more supernatural considering his superhuman strength. But if that's the case, maybe he should also be studied for his remarkable abilities while being in a mental institution.
shareI've always preferred a more down-to-earth interpretation of the character. But it's addressed in the movie, so I don't think it's some kind of plothole.
I got the impression Loomis knows exactly what Michael's abilities are, the problem is that no one else believes him.
They probably let him watch tv in there. I know we were far from the youtube-tutorials-era but what if he watched a show that showed how cars worked. Or even simply payed attention every time he saw someone start a car and drive on tv. After years and years of seeing that, it wouldn't be that difficult to replicate the few steps necessary to drive an automatic, I think. Add to this... you know.... the EVIL. And boom, you got yourself a driver, lol.
shareI think this one is most logical.
shareThe explanation given in the novelization is that Michael learned by watching Dr. Loomis drive, as he drove him to various hearings over the years β itβs a simple explanation, but one that fits Michaelβs character, as he is quite observant.
shareThis is the explanation I've always gone with.
shareSeeing and doing are different things though. We were all in cars as kids, but that doesn't mean we all pass the test.
shareHe was part Vulcan and performed a mind-meld with the car engine.
shareDriving is pretty easy. It really isn't that out there that he figured it out.
shareBut he was only in a car when he was 6. He can't really learn from that.
shareNo, but who's to say that there isn't tv in the mental institute. It's not like he couldn't have ever watched anyone else drive.
I think it's more amazing that he always knows where to go.
Yeah, why didn't Laurie leave the state?
shareDo you mean in this one? Laurie was just a baby sitter here. If you are talking about sequels....????? This series has as many continuity issues as the Paranormal Activity movies. I mean what is cannon here? Who knows?
shareOh I forgot they don't mention Laurie being his sister in this one. But yeah, the different timeline story arcs they do are stupid.
sharePretty sure that the evil force inside, which allowed him to get up and walk away after getting shot six times at point blank range and fall off a balcony, can figure out how to drive a car.
