Give me a break.

If it's such a good movie, then why the hell would you want a remake?

It doesn't need one.

Get real.

I recently saw the DVD of it, and it's held up remarkably well.Goldie is "cute as a button",and Chevy Chase held his own.Who could improve on the "fight of the ages" between Burgess Meredith and Rachel Roberts;....and Dudley Moore!!!
Add to this the physical beauty of S.F.and the Gilbert&Sullivan, and you have a classic! No remake here.

According to Kate (somewhere found a quote on this site through the goldie hawn page) says that they are thinking about a remake but havent got a writer for it yet.
Obviously they think it would be good to have kate play her mums original part.

I was watching this movie yesterday with my mom (because it's one of her favourites) and we were discussing casting if Kate Hudson went through with playing the same role as her mom.

David Ducovny as Tony
Steve Coogan as Stanley

And now I am hearing there may be a remake with Kate Hudson in the role of her mother, Goldie Hawn, and Matthew McConaughey in the role of Chevy Chase. I shall hope not. It is as good as it is, and Kate should be her own person, not her mother. And who could be Chevy Chase but Chevy Chase? That is why he always said, "I'm Chevy Chase and You're Not." This better stop now. I am tired of needless remakes of just plain good movies, let alone great movies.

And William Frankfather as Whitet Jackson the albino. He was so creepy in that role

Do not bother!

Foul Play is fine as it is, especially when TCM plays it. I bought the VHS version and will never watch it on TV unless it's unedited and uninterrupted with commercials.

C'mon, we have suffered through remakes of so many films in the last 10 to 15 years or so. Yours, Mine, and Ours; Parent Trap; Cheaper By the Dozen to name a few. Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan was halfway decent at least, in my opinion.

However, may I be so bold as to suggest that HOLLYWOOD should try to come up with original ideas? Try not to remake anything many of us hold dear, wouldja please?

Thanks, ummmm...

A remake would actually be intriguing.

As much as I love the original, it could use a contemporary update.

I hope they do not remake this

I hate remakes except for a few movies but some movies like Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor was a remake and became a classic

I like the movie just as it is right now...and I can't stand to watch old movies sometimes. This movie incorporates a lot of different genres, and I don't think a good remake could be pulled off in Hollywood today.

Well for one remakes are not justified. Would you ever remake Back To The Future? Remakes are only geared towards younger viewers who are to stubborn to watch the originlal. This movie was good and to have it ruined by an unfunny Will Ferral is a joke. Thats like pissing all over what Chevy Chase did. Plus why do you not have Russel Brand play the pervy conductor while you are at it. If you are wanting a funny yet suspencfull mystery thriller, then bug hollywood to go make an "original" one instead of rehashing a classic.

Plus if it was made , it would be set in modern times. the pope would never go to america to watch an opera. Even if he did the security would be so up tight thousands of sniper and undercover people. No one would be able to get in ,let alone with a sniper rifle.
Granted I may sound like a old fart but it really bugs me that the movie industry feels the need to waste money. Especialy on hashed remakes and unessecesery sequels to bad films.

I hope not. The leads aren't the only interesting characters in this film. Mr. Hennessy is hilarious, the elderly couple playing scrabble, the Japanese couple in the stolen limo, and who could play Stanley, maybe Johnny Depp. This is a classic. But if I entertain a remake, I would pick Matt Bomer for Tony. I read in a post that Chevy didn't overplay his role. From what I've seen of Mr. Bomer, he would be perfect. Paul Walker would also have been a good choice for the romantic lead.
I agree with Ms. Hudson. I don't know about his partner, though. Brian Dennehy worked because he's big and strong and he gets captured, lol. Ashton Kutcher could play a comedic partner, maybe. The cop boss could be played by Chi McBride, strong and intimadating. Hennessy could be played by Kevin Hart.

Edit: Ving Rhames could play the partner the same way Mr. Dennehy did. And Sasha Roiz could play either parts, lead or buddy cop.
