Ridiculous plot hole
Why are a bunch of German's talking in English at the meeting where Kohler records them?
How ridiculous is that?!
They spoke English to throw off any random surveillance that might have been trawling around for random Germans in South America.

Wrong. Germans are super smart. Everyone knows that, including the Wiesenthals and anyone else who might've been surveilling krauts. Knowing that Germans are so intelligent, they'd know that Germans would have no trouble learning Spanish...so they'd specifically look out for and lock into Spanish speakers with a touch of a German accent. Speaking English was thus a masterful stroke of subterfuge.
I take it that you've never been a Nazi on the run. Let me assure you that this is exactly how they would handle this situation - speaking English whilst describing their world domination plans in a mansion - just as I've described.
They spoke English because in an English movie it would totally moronic to have a scene that length in German.
It's not a plothole. It's be respectful to the audience.
If The Sound of Music took place in Austria, why are they speaking English?
So if you put subtitles in a scene you're disrespecting the audience? LOL, americans.

And as a Brit, I'm totally with you. They could have done it in German or the local language, but their production ethos demanded it be in English. Putting it in German was possible but they chose not to and it doesn't affect the story one iota, so to call it a plot hole is just daft.
There's plenty to pick on this film for if you're minded to, but this one is clutching at straws.
It has nothing to do with respecting audience. It has everything to do with money. Americans would not go to see films with too much subtitles.
Its annoying that you do not hear the actual languages of characters but one is used to it. Like if American audiences disliked foreign or historical costumes we would see movies about Ww2 with actors wearing their own contemporary clothing.
I've seen the Russian versions of Sherlock Holmes and Ten Little Indians. The characters spoke Russian even tho they were English. Do you have the same complaint?
