Was Han Solo Coming In At The Last Minute Like Some Kind Of Glory Stealing Cowboy...

... After many, many rebel pilots had already lost their lives for the good cause, and a large chunk of the enemy had already been dealt with, supposed to be allegorical of any real life event?

And was he really deserving of a medal ahead these other guys who'd been involved for the entire duration?

reply

Yes because he also delivered the plans to destroy the Death Star

reply

Yes because he also rescued the princess. Think about that: she was the most high-profile prisoner the Imperials had, being held inside an unimaginably huge space station teeming with troops. Han, a farm boy and a retired Jedi manage to infiltrate the Death Star, rescue the princess, and escape to the Rebel base with the stolen plans. If that isn’t deserving of a medal I don’t know what is!

You've done exactly the same thing they did - Forgot all about poor Chewbacca!
