Lightning in a bottle

This movie was lightning in a bottle. The story was more of an adventure than slow paced science fiction flick. The special effects were cutting edge with some of the best puppeteers to ever exist. The spaceships were models made from junk. It was a product of invention. This movie should never have happened, but everything fell into place.

The same ingenuity we see doesn't seem to be in the recent films. Perhaps that's why some fans only consider the original trilogy to be the only real Star Wars movies

I agree. I think you can already start to see the decay setting in a bit in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. They're still brilliant, of course.

The long hiatus, fan expectations, too many cooks, and the idea not being fresh and exciting anymore have made subsequent endeavours lackluster.

Ah, heck, even during the era of the original movies they were already squeezing it for gimmicks and spin-off films. Remember "Caravan of Courage"?

Yep, I remember the Ewoks movies. They also had a Droids cartoon around the time and that's before we get into the dreaded Holiday Special.

One of the things I adore about ANH is its low-cost production and yet the crew were able to achieve so much and have such a huge impacton fans and the industry, and tap into something we didn't know we wanted.

Every time I watch it I continue to be fascinated with how the sets were made, the costumes, the models, the effects, the sounds, the music.

It's fun to see that bubble wrap and a cardboard tube were used in the trash compactor scene. It looked good enough for me.

If you build a Tesla coil - you know, one of those 'singing' ones, for example - and then build a glass bottle around it - if the bottle is big enough and the Tesla coil is small enough, I think there CAN be lightning inside a bottle!

I wonder if anone has ever tried it..
