What was your favorite scene in Smokey And The Bandit?

My favorite scenes was either Buford T. Justice ordering food at the Choke N Puke cafe or the scene where Buford T. Justice got on another cop's case for his language.

The choke n' puke was great. That's a hard question. They're all so damn good.

I agree... there are so many great scenes, most of which include little gems like Snowman saying to himself, "I oughtta be in Nashville", or nearly any scene with Buford and Junior.

But the one I really like the best is when Buford goes into the choke 'n puke and banters back and forth with Bandit there at the lunch counter. Bandit intentionally getting Dr. Pepper all over Buford's shirt, wiping bits off his face as he gets spit on, and the magic of Jackie Gleason just lighting up the entire scene.

SKYBIRD, this is DROPKICK with a RED DASH ALPHA message in two parts. BREAK. BREAK.

Junior: Daddy, my hat flew off.
Buford: I hope your Goddamned head was in it!

My favorite, (and I actually did one time), when they are on their way to getting the beer and a cop is chasing Bandit at night, Bandit hides behind a building and shuts his lights off and the cop keeps going.

all are great. But I have always laughed the hardest when Snowman goes into the Soul Food joint and gets into the barroom fight with the Bikers. That is a classic. Specially Snowman's revenge.

Col. G. Stonehill: Most people around here have heard of Rooster Cogburn.

I have three favorites. Two of them are not ones that make me laugh, however. I am an amateur writer so I appreciate their "artistry". The first one I like is when bandit "takes his hat off" and Jerry Reed's song "They Call You The Bandit" is echoing in the background. Pure cinematic magic IMHO. The second is near the end when it turns serious for a moment. Carrie asks "BO, did you count on this? I mean....ALL of THIS?". Bandit looks up at the police helicopter above him and replies "No, I didn't, honey..".

The one I laugh at most is when Snowman turns those motorcycles into a salvage yard.

Eventually, there will come a day when science acknowledges the supernatural

OP I'm with you! Those were my two favorite scenes as well. I watched the movie last night for the first time since about 30 years ago when I was a kid. That Jackie Gleason is one hell of a funny guy!! Really enjoyed this movie and Burt Reynolds is great too. Couldn't believe how cute and sexy Sally Field was back then.

Sally's face in the lap of the Bandit, showing an overgrown package, ripe for delivery.

Sally Field's ass

so many movies, so little time

I also liked the "Banzai" scene where a trucker hits the opened door of Buford's car.

Anything with Buford T. Justice. My favorite quote is "There's no way, NO way that you came from my loins. Soon as I get home, the first thing I'm gonna do is punch yo mamma in da mouth!

I'm in hot pursuit!

reply

I was coming here to post that same quote. It’s the best line in the movie.

I also liked the scene where Buford T. Justice starts honking his horn and the horn gets stuck.
