Will Tarantino surpass original?

Of the movies Tarantino has made, all are creations of his own inspired from others. Do you think his version should turn out to be completely unique or exactly like the original?

It'll be four hours of pointless talking.

Second that lol

no idea is original. All anything is is someone stealing something from someone else. Tarantino takes stuff from films he loves and puts his own spin on it. Or he combines elements from films he loves. It's called an homage.

Yeah. Split into two movies. Probably starring old 70's legendary stars like Fred Williamson. And obviously a cool soundtrack.

After seeing this film, it's pretty hard to imagine a remake being a step backwards.

if you've seen the previews for the new movie, its obvious that tarentino's film is NOT a remake... its just got the same title...

a resounding YES

Tarantino's flick will not surpass the original in my opinion. I love the original and hope it will be on a cable network soon.

Ok for the last time, QT's film is NOT a remake! It just has the same title.
None of the characters or any of the plot are in any way the same or even similar.
QT is a huge fan of this film and may have taken a few tiny elements of it for his film, but can tell you for a fact not one film in history is 100% original, not one.
Every film came from real events, a book, or an idea inspired by somthing.
Even when QT has copied somthing or paid homage to it, he has never claimed it to be his own idea.
He always says he makes the sort of movies he would like to see, and it is obvious millions of others liked these movies. After all they are realy entertaining films and thats good enough for me.
Trust me, watch QTs Inglourious Basterds, then watch this film again, you will find nothing to moan about as they are two completely different films...

I saw the QT "remake" "Reinvisioning" "rip-off" you choose.

The same title, a similar plot.

I would say that I found it almost as dire as Deathproof, lots of ridiculous "cool" dialogue, mixing up modern talking into a 1940's setting. The usual Tarrantino casual racism, all Germans are Nazis etc etc, the way the Italians were portrayed, perhaps he believes that was accurate, but I doubt it.

I honestly believe that if QT filmed someone taking a dump the nodding dog fans of his will cream their pants over how great and post modern it was.

And how did Brad Pitt allow himself to look so stupid in this film? Surely he read the script? What was he doing with his jaw?

reply

QT's Inglorious Basterds was cinematic genius. Brad Pitt did something Unique and distinctive. Sure, he could of done it "serious" but what makes that different from the last 80 years of film?

Judging by your post, you're basing this on other QT films, and you haven't even seen Inglorious basterds.

reply

Of course I saw the film. Dont be such a twat.

Brad Pitt made himself look a complete arse! I am not sure that that is "unique". Perhaps I prefer my entertainment a little more cerebral and actually want to be entertained.

Each to their own but I find his last few films tedious in the extreme.

Sorry but I could not agree more. I found Inglourious Basterds to be horrifically boring, possibly even the worst movie of 2009. There wasn't much to enjoy about this movie besides Til Schweiger

Personally i thought Christoph Waltz was great

Are you talking about the 1978 version that is completely different from Quentin Tarantino's version? Because QT's Inglorious Bastard was excellent. One of the best movies on 2009 easily. Why do you think if got nomination for several oscars? One of the best scripts I've seen from Quentin since Pulp Fiction. The first 15mins of the film is all tension. Christoph Waltz was brilliant in this movie. He was always unpredictable, yet calm and patient. Yes, this movie easily surpassed the original by a mile. I've already watched it 4 times now. It's in my Top 20 films along with Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Pulp Fiction, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Forrest Gump, Fist of Legend, Enter the Dragon, The Matrix, Toy Story series and The Incredibles.

But but but -- the Jew Bear!

On a lighter note, did you see the Jew Bear's 2015 take on Cannibal Holocaust? THE GREEN INFERNO. I thought it was terrible, not nearly as interesting as the films it pays homage to.

reply

He obviously had...
