A Damnation Remake?

Anyone think a remake should be in in makes?
I know most people hate remakes such as I I enjoy the qulity of the orgianls.
However I kinda like to see what they can make this movie into now.

In the DVD commentary, producer Paul Maslansky says he would like to see it remade. He feels that the the basic story is a great premise, and that the movie could be made much better with a bigger budget then he had and with today's fx technology.

I would LOVE to remake this movie.

you can't outrun it
you can't outdrive it
you cannot stop...The Truck.

I don't, as a rule, like remakes

That being said, I do approve of re-makes in certain genres

this would be one

Sci-Fy, Action,

You don't have to stand tall, but you have to stand up!

One of the few films I'd actually like to see remade. Especially if it was much more faithful to Zelazny's novel with would be possible with modern FX.

Having just watched the movie for the first time since its release back in 1977, there was a lot I had only vaguely remembered. I had forgotten just how inappropriate the story was for a movie format. It's episodic, with the travelers experiencing encounter after encounter before finally reaching their goal, an Albany somehow not seared off the face of the planet by the all the nukes dropped on the US east coast.

I won't criticise the special effects; they were what was possible back in 1976 on a limited budget (it appeared that Star Wars had all the really good special effects guys in 1976). If they were done now they would be considerably better.

What struck me about a possible remake would be to make it as a television show instead. That would enable more effective character development than was possible for the movie, or at least allowed for by the shooting script for the movie, and take advantage of the basic premise of a post-apocalyptic road trip, i.e. move from place to place running into stuff and situations with other survivors. The Landmaster was pretty cool; it was a pity the studio executives of the day decided to make it the lead character though - at least it is still available for a remake.

The Walking Dead is a successful post-apocalyptic show so there is obviously a market for that kind of product.

There are a couple of points to avoid from the movie. Setting off all the nuclear weapons on the planet would create a nuclear winter markedly different from the hot desert conditions shown in the movie. What the nukes wouldn't do would be to change the planet's axial tilt. That would require a very large asteroid, and it would have to be a lot larger than Texas.

I know this is an old question and that the poster might even be DEAD, but I think a remake by Hollywood would fall into the category of Fantasy-Action-Comedy much in the same vein as all of those Dwayne Johnson movies with Jumanji being the latest.

There's really no need to retell this tale as movies like "The Road" have given us a more compelling and real-world perspective on a post-Apocalyptic Age.

No point really, unless someone wants to do another Mad Max film by another name.
If they do,this would be the source material to work from.
