i just read about this movie and i am wondering if it is good? is dumb and just cheesy or very good for its time? and also is it really that bad to be bannd from places?

Some of the final plot twists surprised me (though I should have seen them coming from miles away).

The movie is really good for its time, not especially gory or thinly plotted, has believable likable characters, and is more thought-provoking than sensational.

So yeah, it's worth an evening's rental.

Um...it's ok. I only just saw it for the first time, so maybe it will improve on a second look. I'm not a gorehound, I can handle a subtle slow horror film. But was disappointed.

A small handful of scenes grabbed me... but otherwise I felt it depended entirely on the supposed shock value image of little children killing adults, without a good script or much atmosphere to support it.

Still, my favorite films took several viewings to appreciate. So maybe it will grow on me.

I really enjoyed this one. I found the kids creepy and the atmosphere was tense. The cinematography was also a highlight and the film's cinematographer, José Luis Alcaine, went on to work w/ Pedro Almodóvar and still works with him to this day.

Opinions, opinions, opinions. Due to the mixed reviews going on in this thread, I have to say that this movie is most likely not for everyone, but I for one, loved it. I love subtle, creepy, and atmospheric horror movies, and this is a good example of subtle creepy horror.

Yes, I love this movie as well. I think that in addition to the interesting story and great atmosphere, it also had a message. Adults have done so much to ruin this world with their wars, famine, homelessness, etc. so the kids find it necessary to take it over themselves and see if they can do a better job. This is one of my favorite movies and I don't see how anyone could dislike it.
