Mystery Science Theatre Version is better ;)
Just like the title says, the MST3K version is one of the funniest MST3K's I had ever seen...
A pirate I was meant to be, Trim the sails and roam the sea.

Actually you MST3K nerds are way off. This movie is great on it's own.

I do enjoy some of the MST3K jobs I've seen. But SQUIRM does not belong in that catagory. Honestly, it has too much class. I mean, I know the heavy southern accents are easy to make fun of, and some of the acting is a little over-the-top, I'll give you that.
But when you consider the great technical work (score, lighting, FX, etc.), it just doesn't fit into the MST3K mold. Even the character build-up is good. I actually wanted Mick, Jerri & family to survive.
Its been said before, and I'll say it again- SQUIRM is an under-appreciated classic from 70's horror/sci-fi cinema.
I fully agree. It's a nice stand-alone film and yes the accents are funny "I told you it's a SU-PRISE!" Adorable. Yup, I liked all the characters and I think the ending was perfect, it just kind of...ended and I like that because it was honest as opposed to movies with over-dramatized endings which are too common.

Just watched Squirm on HDNET. Can't find MST3K anywhere on my sat.....
shareI actually prefer this movie with the MST3k treatment. It is a very good creepy movie.
shareMST3000 is boring, man.

Although Jeff Lieberman is noted to not like the MST3K cut, it actually is cut pretty similar to how I watched it on TV when I was a kid.
If I moved the dial on the old TV that we owned to half-way between channel 7 & channel 8, I could tune in cable channel WWOR-9 out of New York which showed a HORROR MOVIE MARATHON every weekend (we live in Michigan).
WKBD-TV (out of Detroit) was also on our Cable TV lineup.

Yep, the movies were chopped up badly even though they did show some fakeish gore. I remember strongly the movie, "THIRST" (1979) which was like the Candid Camera of vampire movies. "When you least expect it, we're going to sneak up on you and plant human blood in your food..." The whole movie was about the heiress to a vampire cult that has human blood snuck into her food at every occasion (inside of a sealed waxed milk carton, inside of a fried chicken leg, inside of an apple, etc...).

Eventually she gives in and puts on the fake metal vampire fangs and bite into the neck of a "hired helper" (who also played the role of her boyfriend in the movie).
Only socially-awkward-aspergers-suffering-twits find MST3K funny in any way. Squirm is a charming and fun low-budget film.
Hidyho!
Cool.
