Trying to get into John Wayne have been told to see the Shootist, Hondo, Rio Bravo....any other good recommendations?
SCARY!
shareThat's your recommendation for the kid who listed his favorite westerns, then asked what other John Wayne pics to see? Way to help out others, Pard.
And so much for your NOBODY UNDER 50 rule.
I'm under 50, too. And I have no intention of telling you anything about what movies I like or don't like. Why don't you pop some Geritol and take a nice nap. May dreams of road apples and squaw rape dance on your dried out old brain.
I'm crushed.
sharesrklondie, I was totally prepared to leave this be, but I am currently giving The Shootist a chance, so am staying awake. As such, I took this opportunity to look through your comments and posts over the years, most of them from the last couple of years. And I must say, I am confused. I agree with like 95% of everything you've said here on this site, fans of the same people and movies as yourself, and critical of much of the same as you have been.
But here...this western thing. It's nothing like you. Most people that put down others have a full history of being a-holes, but you certainly do not. Not even close. (And I'm right there with you on the redheaded judge, as well as Pelham, Bernie Casey, and like ten other things.)
I can't explain it, and I don't expect you to explain yourself, either. I'm just saying, your "SCARY!" comment and follow-up to my overly-colorful admonition make me wonder what has happened, if anything. Everything ok?
Not sure why I am bothering...and will probably regret this one, but there you go, sir. All I can say is, when I post *beep* things, I am always DRUNK. :D
Well, Im just barely under 50...some of my favorites are:
Dances with wolves
Blazing Saddles
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
True Grit
Will Penny
High Noon
Lonely are the Brave
Red River
Stagecoach
Also, to answer the question about JohnWayne movies.....I recomend Red River and Stagecoach, and, if you are willing to stray from Westerns, The Quiet Man. It is absolutely the best work he ever did....and most everyone else in the film also.
It is not our abilities that make us who we are...it is our choices
"Trying to get into John Wayne have been told to see the Shootist, Hondo, Rio Bravo....any other good recommendations?"
True Grit, Rooster Cogburn, The Horse Soldiers (my personal favorite), El Dorado (also a favorite).
What's with the "no one under 50 need reply?" crap? I grew up watching westerns with my dad and while John Wayne was never my favorite actor, I did love watching Westerns on TV - whether it be the old shows (Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Bonanza, Bat Masterson, and The Rifleman...) or movies.
In no particular order, here they are many of them are Eastwoods.
Outlaw Josey Wales
Hang Em High
Fistful of Dollars
Few Dollars More
Good Bad & Ugly
High Noon
Gunfight at the OK Corral
The Unforgiven
The Cowboys
Rio Lobo
Rio Bravo
Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Hud
High Plains Drifter
Pale Rider
Wyatt Earp
Little Big Man
Red River
Lonesome Dove
Wild Bunch
Tombstone (Kurt Russel"s)
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Darn. I was going to answer. Well, since I'm only 42, I guess I can't answer. I'll get back to you in eight years.
