Why does the movie poster call this 'original'?

Dino De Laurentiss, in a press conference hyping this film, said "This movie will make everyone cry and forget the original!"
It obviously failed by comparison. The original is still loved and Jackson's remake is miles above this one, however, by some people's reckoning, too long. I personally, love the original and Jackson's remake
I see.
shareWhile not as good as the original I like this movie. Frankly I prefer it to the 3+ hour Peter Jackson King Kong.
