God Awful Movie
No tension, the comedy is not funny and the serious parts are boring as hell, no suspense either. A total waste and I usually like stupid 70s films. Hitchcock must have been suffering from gallstones while filming this.

I agree it's pretty bad. Heavy, no suspense, no icy blond goddess,
full of plot holes and loose ends. Hitchcock was of course very
ill at the time.
Poignantly, there are one or two (or three) little moments where
we see his old (younger) self still there.
- George Lumley (Dern) up the stairs, watching (the legs
of) Fran and Adamson. A whle dialog of pants, boots and feet ...
- The labyrinthine dance at Maloney’s funeral, when Lumley
follows Maloney’s wife through the cemetery plots ...
- ... and of course the wink ...
