Why Was it cancelled? nowonder nbc sucks if they had anybrains they would remake it
shareThe show had run out of quality stories. The show ran a little over a season and a half which was longer than the campaign in the Solomon Islands. The characters were the strength of the show and the repetition of the same old same old wore the show down. I'm not sure that the show would have made a full season without the contributions of Simon Oakland and Dana Elcar as Boyington's superiors. As a kid I appreciated Elcar's Col Lard but having rewatched the series recently it's obvious how much range Elcar had as an actor. Also, the show that launched John Larroquette's career along with Larry Manetti, Jeff MacKay, and down the Black Sheep line. A lot of inaccuracies in the show but still fun to watch.
